The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has taken decisive action by de-registering 18,693 property brokers as part of its commitment to enhance transparency and professionalism within the real estate sector. This move is primarily a response to brokers failing to renew their licenses and not completing the mandatory training and certification required under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

Impact on Mumbai and Surrounding Areas

Among the de-registered brokers, approximately 2,463 are from Mumbai city, while 5,538 are from the suburban areas of Mumbai. Additionally, Thane saw 4,303 brokers de-registered, and Pune had 3,476. This significant number of de-registrations highlights the regulatory authority's commitment to ensuring that property agents adhere to the necessary standards of professionalism, which is crucial for maintaining trust in real estate transactions.
